Parents
PAC
We are proud at Mayne Island School to have a longstanding engaged Parent Advisory Council. We thank all the families that have participated over the years contributing to many fun and educational experiences for students and look forward to the great initiatives and ongoing engagement in the 2023/2024 school year.
As described by BCCPAC (BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Council):
PACs are forums within each school community to discuss matters affecting your school and the education of your children. Parents’ voices are a tremendous value to their school. They offer a wealth of ideas and support in the challenges that face all public schools. PACs strive to represent the diversity within their communities and contribute to the benefit of all students by:
- providing opportunities to educate and inform parents about the school;
- involving parents in volunteer activities; and
- openly discussing parents’ concerns and aspirations for their schools.
Meetings are normally held throughout the school year on the third Tuesday of the month. These meetings are held in person at 3:45 in the school library.
By virtue of having one or more children attending Mayne Island School, you’re already a member of PAC! Congratulations! You’re welcome to attend any meetings, raise any issues or ideas you would like to discuss, and vote on PAC business. Additionally, PAC may choose to work on various initiatives throughout the year, and many hands make light work. In this role, there’s no set time commitment or responsibilities; you can help out as little or as much as you choose. The PAC can be reached at mayneschoolpac@gmail.com.
