Approximately 1000 students in the Gulf Islands ride a bus or water taxi every day. Operating the school district transportation system is a complex undertaking. Expect delays on routes that serve the south end of Salt Spring Island: buses 1,2 & 3
Please be prepared for unpredictable delays due to road construction at Fulford Ganges Road to the south of Ganges, which is scheduled to start September 3, 2024, and continue through the rest of the 2024-2025 school year.
The district’s transportation team communicates with the project managers. We have informed them of the times our buses will be approaching the construction area so they can prioritize the traffic flow for our buses.

Registrations for school bus service is now closed. If you need to register for a route change or are new to the school district contact the transportation department via email.

Where roads are negatively impacted by adverse weather and heavy snowfall, and main roads have been adequately cleared for safe travel, bus routes may be temporarily reconfigured to main roads only. Schedules for "Main Roads Only" are found here.
