Professional Learning
Professional learning encompasses Professional Development (Pro-D), Professional Growth (Pro-G), and Mentorship opportunities for teachers in 香港六合彩.
All teachers in the district, including TTOCs, are eligible to apply for up to $500 per year in each of the Professional Development and Professional Growth Individual programs. School or district groups may also apply for Pro-D and Pro-G funding. For both Pro-D and Pro-G, funding is available as long as the pools of money last.
Pro-D funds are generally used for individual events such as conferences and workshops, whereas Pro-G funds may be accessed in order to support long-term educational goals.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
There are many opportunities for Professional Development in 香港六合彩, including individual, school, and district activities. Professional Development is coordinated by a Committee. The committee is responsible for setting policy, informing members of opportunities within our district, and planning the District Professional Development Day. We have five Professional Development Days assigned to our calendar: three school-based days, one provincial day, and the teacher-planned District-wide Professional Development Day.
To apply for Pro-D funds, follow the steps below:
- Fill in the application form, including the ‘Estimated Expenses’ column, and send it to the Pro-D Fund Administrator via school mail, fax or email. Send the form at least two weeks before the event. The application form will be signed, given a number and sent back to you.
- Apply for TTOC coverage if needed. To do so, fill out a Leave of Absence form, noting the Pro-D event you wish to attend. Get the signatures of your school principal and the Pro-D fund administrator before you send the form to Dispatch at the School Board Office.
- After the event, complete the ‘Actual Amount’ column on the original form and return the original receipts attached to the Pro-D Fund Administrator in hard copy via school mail. (Note that financial auditors will require a hard copy.) Please note the expense overview at the bottom of the form.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
Professional Growth (Pro-G)is a joint initiative between the Board of Education and the to aid teachers in their professional growth and advancement. It is available to all GITA members who are involved in ongoing professional growth endeavors. Defined by the concept of growth, the fund is designed to assist teachers in achieving their long-term professional objectives. Unlike Professional Development (Pro-D) funds, which are available for specific workshops or other isolated learning activities, Professional Growth funds are allocated to support teachers in pursuing structured, long-term goals.
All district teachers, including Teachers Teaching On Call, are eligible to apply for up to $1,400 annually through the Professional Growth (Pro-G) Individual programs. Additionally, school or district groups may apply for Pro G funding, with a maximum of $1,400 available per GITA member.
COMMITTEE
The Professional Growth Committee consists of two GITA members, two trustees, and the Superintendent or their designate as the Chairperson. The committee will review all applications. Applicants will be notified whether their request has been approved and explained if it has not. Approved applications will be signed, numbered, and returned to the applicant.
CATEGORIES
Teachers may apply for funding for up to two of the following programs; however, only one application can be approved through the individual program stream per school year.
1. Individual Program (up to $1,400): ()
- Teachers pursuing a Master’s program.
- Teachers enrolled in a course.
- Teachers attending a series of workshops or conferences with a single focus.
- Teachers implementing new programs approved by the school board, with supporting documentation from the superintendent.
2. Retraining Program (up to $1,400): ()
- Teachers assigned by the principal to teach a significantly new subject area, grade level or significantly new program.
3. Facilitator Program (up to $1,400): ()
- Funding is provided to district teachers who are in the process of becoming trainers for other teachers. These grants are designed to support teachers who are developing the skills and expertise needed to facilitate training sessions or professional development workshops for their peers. The grant can be used for expenses related to training, such as materials, courses, or other resources that help them prepare to lead these sessions within the district.
4. Group Program (up to $1,400): ()
- Includes school-based or district-wide groups.
- All participating teachers must be listed on the application.
2024/2025 SCHEDULE
Pro-G applications are accepted in up to three cycles each year if funds remain available. The intake schedule for 2024/2025 is as follows:

HOW TO APPLY
- Fill out the online Pro-Growth Application Form before the intake deadline. ( or )
- The Pro-Growth Committee will consider the application and communicate if it has been approved or denied. Upon approval, you will be given an approval number to use in ALL correspondence.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE (LOA)
If your professional growth activities require a Leave of Absence:
- Include your Professional Growth (Pro G) approval number on the LOA.
- Specify the LOA date(s) and duration on the Professional Growth Expense Form.
- LOA costs will be calculated at a rate of $600 per day, with a minimum charge for a half-day.
REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES
To ensure that your expenses are approved and reimbursed promptly, please follow the steps below:
- Once your application is approved, you will receive an approval number. Use this number in ALL related correspondence.
- The applicant is responsible for tracking budget expenses and ensuring that all receipts correspond to the budget items listed in the proposal. Expenses not included in the original application will not be reimbursed.
- All successful applicants are required to fill out the , even if their only expense was an LOA.
- Submit a , original receipts, and a written reflection to the school board office by May 31 - claim forms sent attn: accounting (accounting@sd64.org)
- After the professional growth expenses are approved, the Accounting Department at the School Board Office will issue a cheque and send it to your school. If any receipts are tax-deductible (e.g., college or university fees), reimbursement will be processed through payroll.
